DUBAI: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has sanctioned 113 young men and a young woman from its staff to join the second batch of the UAE’s national military service on 20th December, 2014.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said, “DEWA has taken the necessary measures to secure qualified replacements to ensure continuous and seamless work at DEWA.” He noted that military service is a national duty that requires concerted efforts to achieve its objectives to create promising and confident young people who possess qualities of leadership in different areas. Al Tayer noted that completing national service helps young people to enhance their team spirit, and supports the UAE’s national identity.
Al Tayer emphasised that DEWA supports this national duty by identifying staff who have signed up for military service in addition to their other duties. All required arrangements have been made to assign substitutes and enable staff to join the military on time.
