9th “Women and Child” Conference Concludes In Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: The 9th International Conference of Al Noor Hospital with the theme “Women and Child Health”, concluded on Friday.

Held under the distinguished patronage of Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, the annual conference shed light on a range of topics related to Women and Child health. Recommendations that stemmed from the 9th conference included, the importance of expanding infants and children’s early detection programs to help control hereditary diseases, which will complement the success of current programs being implemented.

Moreover, the conference stressed on the importance of adhering to early detection programs of various cancer types found in women, and the role of the private healthcare sector in encouraging regular screening in an aim to increase the chances of successful treatments and survivals.

Safety and prevention measures related to children were a major topic of discussion during the conference. Discussions revolved around the attention to healthy eating and the importance of living in smoke-free homes to avoid the dangers of secondhand smoke on children. Recommendations also included that necessary tests need to be carried out in order to rule out a number of conditions that may be found in children including autism.
