Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi attends second day sessions of IGCF in Sharjah

SHARJAH, 23rd February, 2015 (WAM)–H.H. Dr. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, today attended the second day sessions of the International Government Communication Forum 2015, held under the theme ‘Specific Actions…Better Results’ at Sharjah Expo in the presence of Former Lebanese President Michel Sleiman.

President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, delivered a key speech in which she demonstrated her country’s effort to tackle Ebola disease crisis, which had at a certain point threatened the lives of Liberians and people in the region.

About the importance of Government Communication, she said, “In recognition that community and social mobilisation remain key to changing and influencing mindsets and behavioral change, attention was shifted from a central government-led process to the communities and the local structures which assumed responsibility for proper dissemination of the required response. They signed the communication tools to reach the people. In effect, the messages and the response became the people’s creation rather than an imposition from the government.” On his part, Osama Samra, Director of the Sharjah Media Centre, said that the fourth edition of the IGCF seeks to adopt resolutions that address conflicts and differences that put social fabric, cultural component and development future at risk worldwide.

“The Government of Sharjah’s vision towards future of relations among people stems from its deep conviction and concern that human being is a core of all activities, sessions and resolutions. The essence of Government Communication is a reflection of reality on ground that proves objectivity of official discourse and cohesion between action and speaking.” Samra noted that the development policy adopted by the Government of Sharjah is not only purely an economic decision, but also a collective moral decision in terms of objectives and service of people.

Among others present were Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Centre, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development, Major General Humaid Mohammed Al Hudaidi, General Commander of Sharjah Police, senior officials, dignitaries, academics and media students.
