Abdullah bin Zayed affirms importance of bilateral relations with Mongolia

ULAN BATOR: U.A.E. Foreign Minister, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has met with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Luvsanvandan Bold, in the Mongolian capital, Ulan Bator.

During the meeting they discussed joint cooperation relations between the two friendly countries and ways of enhancing and developing them in various fields.

At the meeting, they also exchanged views on the latest on the regional and international levels, as well as discussing a number of issues of common interest.

During the press conference held by the Foreign Minister of Mongolia, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah stated that his current visit to Mongolia is part of the consolidation of bilateral relations between the two countries, despite the geographical distance between them, but there are many things that bind them together.

Sheikh Abdullah said, “There are many challenges ahead of us, but we take interest in the issue of welfare of our peoples to provide appropriate development opportunities to them. We continuously do so in U.A.E..” The U.A.E. Foreign Minister continued, “Our forefathers lived a simple life, depending on natural resources.

This has deepened our sense of the concept of respect for nature and the environment. We take that into account when we deal with the challenges of the 21st century, especially climate change and sustainability.” In this context, Sheikh Abdullah said that he hoped that Mongolia would become a member of International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), headquartered in Abu Dhabi, which works to develop and spread renewable energy technologies, and assist development worldwide.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the importance of depending on the multilateral methodology of preserving effective fraternal relations through negotiation and mutual respect.

Regarding security issues, he said, “Despite the geographic distance, we need joint cooperation in this respect. We in the U.A.E. respect Mongolia for its contribution and support in the security issues of mutual respect.” Sheikh Abdullah said the U.A.E. appreciates the support of Mongolia to the stability of Afghanistan through participation of Mongolia’s forces in the international peace keeping forces there, adding that it is important to sustain the 13-year achievement in Afghanistan.

The U.A.E. Foreign Minister stressed that the visit has left a positive impact on the U.A.E., and he hoped that Mongolia shares the same impression. He added that both countries would continue to bolster bilateral relations in the best interests of the two friendly peoples.

On his first visit to Mongolia, Sheikh Abdullah thanked the government of Mongolia for its warm hospitality, adding that mutual experiences would contribute to enhancing the relations between the two countries.

The Mongolian Foreign Minister stressed his country s keen interest to enhance bilateral relations with the U.A.E. in all spheres and commended the prestige stature occupied by the U.A.E. at regional and international levels.

The Mongolian Foreign Minister hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of Sheikh Abdullah and the delegation accompanying him.

The meeting was attended by Omar Ahmed Al Bitar, U.A.E. Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China and Non-Resident Ambassador to Republic of Mongolia.
