Abdullah bin Zayed meets UN Secretary-General, Prime Minister of Kurdistan

Dubai, 9th February, 2015 (WAM) — The UAE is committed to supporting the UN’s activities, particularly its political and humanitarian initiatives, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, affirmed today during a meeting with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, held on the sidelines of the 3rd Government Summit in Dubai.

Sheikh Abdullah and Ki-moon exchanged views on a variety of important regional and international issues. The meeting also discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the UAE and the international organisation.

The UN chief expressed thanks and appreciation to the UAE for its sustained support for the UN, emphasising that the UAE has proven how innovation can stimulate budding youth and how dynamic, strong governments can bolster tools of peace and realise sustainable development.

Ki-moon expressed the gratitude of the UN to Sheikh Abdullah for the efforts being made by the UAE to boost the work and activities of the UN and the international community.

Later, Sheikh Abdullah met Nechervan Barzani, the Prime Minister of Iraqi Kurdistan region, and reviewed with him the latest regional and international developments.
