Abdullah bin Zayed receives US Congressional delegation

Abu Dhabi, 22nd February, 2015 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, received a US Congressional delegation led by Ted Deutch, Democratic US Representative from Florida and member of the Sub-committee on the Middle East of the Congress Foreign Affairs Committee, on the margins of IDEX 2015 on Sunday.

H.H. welcomed the US delegation and discussed with it ties between the UAE and USA in the light of the countries’ desire to aance these ties in various areas of mutual concern. They also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments and reviewed current international initiatives and efforts to ensure stability and peace in the region and push forward development.

The meeting also looked into promising opportunities available in the two countries.

Highlighting the importance of enhancing bilateral ties, Sheikh Abdullah also stressed the significance of such visits and sharing experiences and experiments.

During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah also spelled out the UAE’s vision for current events and developments in the region, saying, ”The UAE’s core principle is based on giving top priority to the language of dialogue, peace, security, stability as well as to building and development of nations.” The visiting Congressmen applauded the good organisation and management of IDEX, noting that the high turnout stands testimony to the success and leadership of the UAE in the event and exhibition industry.

They also expressed delight at visiting the UAE to view the civilised progress it is witnessing. They also expressed the US’ commitment to further strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation with the UAE.
