ADDED, Belarus to enhance economic relations

ABU DHABI, 18th February, 2015 (WAM) — Ali Majid Al Mansouri, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, ADDED, has received an invitation from Belarus to visit the capital, Minsk, at the head of high-level governmental delegation from Abu Dhabi. The visit aims to view the investment opportunities that provided by Belarus for strengthening development and economic relations between the two countries.

This came during Al Mansouri’s meeting with Roman Golovchenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus, where they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and development of economic relations between Abu Dhabi and Belarus, and follow-up the outputs of the joint committee between the two sides which held its last meeting in Abu Dhabi in October last year.

Al Mansouri added that the establishment of a business council between Belarus and UAE in June last year, has a significant impact in enhancing the economic cooperative relations between the two countries in light of the available possibilities and opportunities in all fields that would enhance the trade and increase it through encouraging investment and increase the number of commercial delegations and events which held in the two countries.

He reviewed the orientations of Abu Dhabi Government aimed to implement several development projects in a number of non-oil economic sectors that Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 underlies, expressed his hope that the visit of the Abu Dhabi delegation to Minsk achieve its objectives through the promotion of convergence between the two governments and opening the way before the private sector to engage a more of successful and productive investments that accruing interest and benefits to both sides.

The Ambassador of Belarus highlighted the importance of the Abu Dhabi Government delegation visit, saying that it comes at a time while Belarus pays great attention to the development and evolution achieved by Abu Dhabi in all fields, and its eagerness to create more strategic partnerships in a number of sectors especially that related to the industrial sector.

Belarus ranked 147th on the list of UAE trading partners with the volume of UAE non-oil trade with them during 2013 around AED78,000,000 and is expected to reach more than AED100,000,000 during 2014.

The per capita GDP in Belarus has increased 33 percent during the past five years, while investment growth rate was 14 percent during the past five years.
