ABU DHABI: Ambitious young entrepreneurs from high schools and universities all around the UAE are set to convene at Abu Dhabi University on the 12th December for the launch of the “1st Abu Dhabi Global Summit for Young Entrepreneurs” and the “Idea Factor Competition”.
Held under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Vice-President of Abu Dhabi University’s Board of Regents, the summit is organised in strategic collaboration with, “We are the Future” and aims to enhance the culture of innovation and inspire young minds to be future entrepreneurs.
The Dean of Abu Dhabi University’s College of Business Administration, Dr. Jacob Chacko, explained that the summit, which is held for the first time in the Middle East, is a precursor to many more events that will feature inspirational speakers and successful entrepreneurs who will share their experiences with younger generations encouraging them to follow in their footsteps.
Dr. Mohammed Parakandi, Assistant Professor of Marketing and Head of the summit’s organising committee, points out that the two-day summit will conclude with the recognition of the final six winning teams of the “Idea Factor Competition”.
Commenting on their support of the summit and the competition, Mohammed Hamdy, Managing Director of “Turn8”, said, “We look for opportunities to support and foster the technology startup ecosystem in the UAE and in the region by investing in ideas and mentoring entrepreneurs. I look forward to listening to the ideas being pitched and am hopeful I’ll find teams with viable business opportunities to join our accelerator in the next round.” The “Abu Dhabi Global Summit for Young Entrepreneurs” is sponsored by Etihad Airways, Al Nahiya Group, i360accelerator, Union National Bank, TRN8, Yas Viceroy, Novotel, Yas Marina Circuit and Yas Kicks. Depending on the quality of their business idea, the top 6 winning teams of the Idea Factor Competition will have a chance to enter the i360accelerator incubator programme aimed at turning early-stage ideas into investor grade prototypes within a defined period.
