Akhbar Al Sa’a: U.A.E.’s leading initiatives in service of humanity

ABU DHABI: The Akhbar Al Sa’a (News of the Hour) Bulletin, has affirmed that the U.A.E.’s initiatives to the service of humanity does not stop, and this is in line with the humanitarian approach led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, referring to the most recent U.A.E. Suqia (charity water) Initiative launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to provide clean drinking water to five million people worldwide, which will be implemented with the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Under the title: “U.A.E.’s Leading Initiatives in the Service of Humanity” the bulletin said that the announcement of the Suqia Initiative came a short time after the humanitarian gesture of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s order to release 969 prisoners serving terms in various prisons on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, and pay off their liabilities and debts.

The bulletin, issued by the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research, ECSSR, added that the launching of the Suqia Initiative also coincides with the U.A.E. polio vaccination campaign which targets more than 3.6 million children, in implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and as part of the initiative of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of U.A.E. Armed Forces.

The Bulletin concluded that the Suqia Initiative comes at a time where statistics indicate that there are more than 880 million persons around the world without access to healthy and clean water and 3.6 million persons, 90 percent of them under the age of five, die every year because of thirst and diseases caused by lack of clean water.
