Akhbar Al Sa’a: Under leadership of Sheikh Khalifa, UAE adopts approach of dialogue to resolve conflicts peacefully

ABU DHABI: The Akhbar Al Sa’a (News of the Hour) Bulletin has said that the wise words of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the U.A.E. Armed Forces, on the occasion of his participation by leading the U.A.E.’s delegation to the Nuclear Security Summit 2014 in the Hague, summarised the moderate approach to foreign policy that has been committed to by the U.A.E. under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

That approach stems from the thoughts and vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, when he established the principles of foreign policy represented by commitment to all international covenants and laws and respect for them, the establishment of relations with all countries of the world on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of others, and the commitment to resolve disputes between countries through dialogue and peaceful means; to stand by the issues of fairness and justice and contribute to promoting stability and international peace.

The bulletin, issued by the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research, ECSSR, under the title: “U.A.E. under the leadership of President Sheikh Khalifa adopts approach of dialogue and resolve conflicts peacefully” pointed out that these principles were clearly visible in the statements of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the occasion of his participation in the summit, and can be highlighted in several points, which are: firstly, that the U.A.E.’s wise leadership has a firm belief that the best means for solving any international dispute, as Sheikh Mohamed stressed that the U.A.E., under the leadership of Sheikh Khalifa, adopts the approach of cooperation, understanding and dialogue among countries and peaceful resolution of disputes to support the development of peoples and serve their interests.

Secondly, the U.A.E. is fully aware of the risks that threaten the stability and security of the world at the moment, topped by the threat of terrorism, which threatens the stability and security of the peoples. This was clear in His Highness’s confirmation that terrorism in general, and nuclear terrorism in particular, constitutes the most important challenge facing the world today; and that requires us to work tirelessly and jointly to address this risk in its various kinds.

Thirdly, the bulletin points out that the U.A.E. is fully aware of the risk that wide-spread nuclear terrorism represents to global security, and has a clear vision for the circumventing of this danger, as made apparent when H.H. Sheikh Mohamed emphasised the need to formulate common trends to face the risks and threats that affect the security of nations and the stability and safety of their people, particularly the threat of nuclear terrorism and the threat of weapons of mass destruction.

The bulletin concluded with a fourth point, which is that the U.A.E. is ready to completely support global efforts to combat nuclear terrorism.
