CAIRO, 27th October, 2015 (WAM) — Mariam bint Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs, is heading the UAE delegation to the meeting of the 66th Ordinary Session of the Arab Social Affairs Ministerial Council’s Executive Bureau being held today in Cairo.
The meeting will discuss a number of important issues and decisions and on the top priority a draft resolution to provide support and relief to the Republic of Yemen in light of the worsening social, humanitarian and living conditions, which requires immediate and urgent provision of humanitarian aid.
Al Roumi stressed the importance of some of the issues to be discussed, including the Arab Decade for Civil Society Organisations, for its prominent role in the field of social welfare and development, that require combined efforts to rebuild and heal the social divide that has hit some Arab countries.
Al Roumi said that the UAE is one of the first countries to support the activities of the Arab Social Affairs Ministers Council and the Arab Fund for Social Action, which finances programmes, projects and assistance provided by the Council, as the country is keen to make financial contribution to support the budget of this vital fund, the role of which has increased in recent years to meet the relief and development needs of some countries.
