Arab Parliment Speaker meets with Speaker of Tunisia’s House of People’s Representative

TUNISIA, 4th February, 2015 (WAM) — Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Ahmed Mohammed Al Jarwan, yesterday met with the Speaker of the House of People’s Representative, HPR, Mohamed Ennaceur.

Al Jarwan told Emirates News Agency, WAM, that he offered his congratulations to Ennaceur on the legislative elections and the selection of the new government.

During a meeting, Al-Jarwan invited Ennaceur to deliver a speech before the Arab Parliament on the democratic transition experience in Tunisia and proposed that Tunisia hosts the ordinary session of the Arab Parliament.

He expressed the willingness of the Arab Parliament to support HPR in all the international parliamentary authorities, saying, “Tunisia serves as a model for Arab countries, in particular after the success of the legislative and presidential elections and the formation of a new government.” Mohamed Ennaceur briefed his guest on the progress of works at the House of People’ s Representatives after the adoption of the rules of procedure which he considers the “first landmark towards establishing structures of the parliamentary institution.” He reviewed the priorities of the next stage, including finishing off the establishment of constitutional institutions after the vote of confidence in the government, which is due on Wednesday at a plenary session of the HPR.
