Arab Region is going through a sensitive phase solidarity between governments and peoples is required, says Sharjah Ruler

SHARJAH, 18th February 2015 (WAM) — The ongoing fast paced developments in the Arab region requires the governments to make efforts to find solutions to all challenges while prioritising the interests of their citizens, said H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

In a statement ahead of the fourth edition of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2015), H.H. Sheikh Sultan also said, “Our belief is that listening to the demands of peoples is the holy duty that all officials should fullfil, and that well-being is the right of all peoples. In this respect, the UAE, since the days of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, has been promoting this civilisational approach and harnessing all its resources for the service of Emiratis in order to provide empowerment, knowledge and a dignified life.” The Middle East, he added, is going through a sensitive phase that requires solidarity between all governments and peoples.

“During the so-called Arab Spring, the UAE stood out like a light shining amid chaos as the leaders of our country managed to embrace our people and promote transparency in addressing the various domestic and regional issues, which in turn promoted social security and made the UAE people more keen on ensuring the higher national interests and more aware of the importance of security and safety, the two elements that make the UAE excel among all countries.” H.H. Sheikh Sultan also noted that government communication is a vital tool for ensuring optimal cooperation between governments and their peoples on achieving the goals of national development and growth.

IGCF 2015 is scheduled for February 22-23 at Expo Centre, Sharjah.
