Asia Pacific Dental Congress begins 36th session in Dubai

DUBAI: Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and U.A.E. Minister of Finance and President of Dubai Health Authority, the Emirates Dental Society, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Emirates Medical Association, is hosting the 36th Asia Pacific Dental Congress (APDC) in Dubai from 17th to 19th June at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The conference was opened by Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health, with the attendance of Dr. Oliver Hendiga, Secretary-General of the Asia Pacific Federation for Dental Medicine and Dr. Ratna Neilsen, former APFDM Chairperson..

Mr. Al Owais, speaking on the occasion, said, “The conference is important since it gathers all the high profile specialists to review their experiences, discuss the latest updates that would benefit both society members and nations, including diagnosis methods, treatment and protection.

We also hope that the conference will achieve its goals and that the scientists and experts who are gathered here today will present valuable scientific researches that would enrich the skills of students all over the world.” Dr. Aisha Sultan Al Suwaidi, Director of Dental Services Department in the Ministry of Health, Chairperson of APDC and Head of the Dental Section in the Emirates Dental Society, stated that for the first time since its inception in 1955 in Japan, APDC has selected an Arab city to host and organise the conference.

In appreciation of the Emirate of Dubai and the strategic location of the United Arab Emirates to attract regional and global organisations, the scientific progress reflects on the latest updates and techniques in the different fields of Dentistry reinforced by hands-on workshops.

She also mentioned that the conference includes several scientific seminars to be addressed by experts from all over the world to discuss and highlight stem cell culture and engineering with latest updates in oral health care applications.

27 countries of the Asia Pacific Dental Federation will participate in the event, with about 4,000 dentists also expected to attend the Dubai Congress.
