”Colour My World” event brings colour to female cancer patients on world cancer day

DUBAI, 5th February, 2015 (WAM)–The Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP)harity celebrated yesterday World Cancer Day by splashing some colour into the lives of female cancer patients and survivors at the Fairmont Hotel on The Palm Jumeirah.

Suitably called “Colour My World”, the inspiring event, which was sponsored by the Fairmont Hotel, The Palm and Body Shop, highlighted – through a variety of prime demonstrations by professional makeup artists duo Nitasha Sunder and Eirini Hannah and nutrition expert Karla Walter – the inner-beauty and strength of 35 courageous women touched by cancer. The event was aimed at supporting female cancer patients during and after treatment, through an initiative dedicated to improving their confidence and wellbeing.

Ameera BinKaram, President of the Board of Trustees and a founding member of the Friends of Cancer Patients society (FoCP) spoke about the event: “World Cancer Day is one focused day of the year that all citizens get to applaud the strength, determination and the incredible perseverance exercised by those who suffer from this illness. It is of the utmost importance that we show them and their families our admiration and support, for the battle is won not only in the physical arena it is more often than not first overcome in the mind. We are proud to be a part of the World Cancer Day 2015, and we are proud of our sister survivors and their steadfast supporters.” The “Colour My World” World Cancer Day 2015 concentrated on four principal areas which demand priority in the lives of cancer patients. These sectors consist of choosing a healthy life, awareness raising around early cancer detection, achieving treatment for all, and maximising their quality of life.

The first professional makeup artist of the day, Nitasha Saxena, was born in the colorful, buzzing city of Bombay, where her infectious love for all things glamorous and fashionable pointed her passions towards the make-up artistry world. Guiding ordinary women with skin imperfections on the right products and techniques to be used, Nitasha continues to challenge herself every day in hope of sharing her vision of modern beauty with women everywhere.

The second makeup expert, Eirini Hannah, started her career in the field of Fine Arts, Art History and Restoration, working for many years in art galleries in Athens and London until her passion for art in the fashion and makeup industry soon took over.

Both makeup artists showed the cancer patients how to effortlessly express their beauty – in the form of a mini makeover – by working around the physical effects of chemotherapy, a subject on which the guest nutritionist expert elaborated.
