ABU DHABII, 14th February, 2015 (WAM)– Milos Zeman, President of the Czech Republic, has visited Hedayah, the International Centre of Excellence for Countering Violent Extremism (CVE).

Alexandr Sporys, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the United Arab Emirates accompanied President Zeman along with a high-level Czech delegation in his visit to the Centre.

Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Chairman of Hedayah Steering Board, welcomed the honourable visitors to the Centre. Maqsoud Kruse, the Executive Director of Hedayah, briefed them on the Centre’s goals, mission, vision, and achievements, which included initiatives and activities in Hedayah’s three main departments: Dialogue and Collaboration, Training and Capacity Building and Research and Analysis.

Zeman commended the leading role of the United Arab Emirates and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs in supporting the establishment of Hedayah that has contributed greatly to broadening the UAE international role on CVE at both the regional and international levels. With the support of the UAE and Member States of the Global Counter Terrorism Forum (GCTF), Hedayah has contributed effectively to the international community’s prevention efforts of violent extremism targeting all community groups at all levels and fields.

“The importance of this visit highlights the future collaboration activities between Hedayah and the related Czech authorities and institutions. This reflects the unique role Hedayah plays in being the first independent international organisation that acts as a platform for experts and researchers to exchange information, expertise and best practices in CVE” said the Chairman of Hedayah Steering Board, Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi.
