Abu Dhabi: The Department of Finance (DoF) – Abu Dhabi held its annual National Day celebrations under the slogan ‘Spirit of the Union’, yesterday, in front of its headquarters in Abu Dhabi. DoF employees had the opportunity to celebrate the 43rd UAE National Day and to express their loyalty and belonging to the UAE and its wise leadership.
The National Day activities began with a recital of the UAE national anthem, and were attended by Hamad Al Hurr Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Department of Finance- Abu Dhabi; Abdulla Ali Musleh Al Ahbabi, Acting Undersecretary of DoF, Mohammed Sultan bin Ghanoum Al Hameli, Director General of DoF, Mohammed Khadem Al Hameli, Acting Director- General of the General Administration of Customs, in addition to executive directors and a large number of DoF employees and children from the UAE Red Crescent.
On behalf of the Department and its employees, Hamad Al Hurr Al Suwaidi gave thanks and extended congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai; Their Highnesses the UAE Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the UAE Union.
Al Suwaidi praised the UAE leadership, which is working to achieve sustainable development across the country and secure prosperity and happiness for its citizens, by implementing strategic projects across social, economic, financial, environmental and educational sectors within the UAE. He also highlighted the UAE leaders’ efforts to enhance institutional performance across the country, in order to achieve more qualitative accomplishments, uphold the UAE’s values and ensure the well-being of its citizens.
He added: “Since its inception, the UAE has accomplished many remarkable achievements, including establishing an institutional governance structure for the state. The UAE has been recognised for developing its infrastructure, as well as building a sustainable, knowledge-based economy, which in turn contributes to economic and social progress, provides security and prosperity for citizens and raises the UAE’s profile and position as a developed country.”
He concluded: “On behalf of DoF, I would like to take this opportunity to renew our pledge of allegiance and reaffirm our commitment to fulfil our duties and obligations. We will continue to work alongside our partners towards the realisation of our wise leadership’s vision for the future, which is focused on building an advanced financial and customs framework and a prudent fiscal policy to achieve prosperity in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in particular, and the UAE, in line with its distinctive values of openness and tolerance.” DoF organised several National Day activities, which included traditional folklore festivities accompanied by poetry readings. A group of children chanted national and patriotic songs and participated in a competition on the UAE’s heritage and history.
