DEWA sends five engineers to Germany for training

DUBAI: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is sending five Emirati engineers to Germany for a month-long training in building power plants at RWE Technology.

This is the first group in a continuous comprehensive programme by the authority to develop its young Emirati employees, and to develop their capabilities and skills.

RWE is Germany s largest power company and DEWA entered into a joint venture to form RWE ME in Dubai.

The MoU between the two sides includes a month-long knowledge exchange programme where delegated engineers learn about the latest technologies and best practices in energy and water. The programme includes field trips to a number of the RWE s desalination plants and power-production facilities in Germany.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA commenting on the occasion said, “The training programme is one of several initiatives DEWA has launched to sharpen the skills of its employees.

This is a key factor in improving performance and supporting their knowledge and experience, achieving excellence in all professional aspects.” For his part, Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA said, “DEWA is keen to support its national staff and provide them with the necessary training to build their competencies.
