Economy Minister welcomes 1,000 global trade leaders to Dubai’s Global Trade Development Week

DUBAI, 27th October, 2015 (WAM) — Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, will lead a body of 150 of the most influential people shaping world trade, who are speakers at Global Trade Development Week, GTDW.
The event is organised under the patronage of the Economy Minister, and is the world’s largest international trade forum for business and trade leaders from private and public sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, Al Mansouri said, “GTDW provides an essential platform for business and government leaders to exchange ideas on how to work together to achieve sustainable economic development across borders.”
He added, “It is an honour to be leading this long list of highly-esteemed speakers at this major forum dedicated to the aancement of global trade. The UAE is delighted to host this event which shows our commitment to tackling issues of global importance.”
The three-day event which is running until the 29th of October, is bringing together over 1,000 influential business and government leaders, entrepreneurs and academics from over 100 countries. The list of distinguished speakers includes leaders from international organisations, including United Nations, World Bank, European Commission, ICC Banking Commission, World Trade Organisation, and from top multinationals such as Barclays, Boeing, Huawei, Deutsche Bank, and Citi.
Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi, Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, a keynote speaker at GTDW, said, “The world needs a transformative agenda to promote prosperity for all, and UNCTAD’s work has shown that international trade has the potential to deliver a broad range of social, economic and environmental aances to bring about such a transformation. GTDW partners include the UAE Federal Customs Authority and Dubai Economic Council. Along with the UAE Minister of Economy, other keynote speakers addressing the opening plenary session at GTDW are Ms. Arancha Gonzalez, ITC Secretary-General and Hani Al Hamli, Secretary-General of Dubai Economic Council.
