Egypt plans all new capital city, Emaar to play key role

DUBAI, 12th February, 2015 (WAM) — Relations between the UAE and Egypt are growing stronger, Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb has said.

“Egyptian people will never forget the firm stand the UAE took in their support,” Mehleb told journalists today during a press conference at Mina Al Salam Hotel in Dubai.

The Egyptian Prime Minister underlined the significant growth of Emirati investments in Egypt after the removal of all the obstacles that investors faced.

He revealed plans for an all new capital city in Egypt, saying the UAE’s leading developer Emaar was expected to play a key role in the project.

Asked about Egypt’s relations with Qatar, the Egyptian Prime Minister said his country heeded a call by the late Saudi King, Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, to mend fences but Qatar’s position was unclear.

“This doesn’t affect us but we still look forward to maintaining excellent relations with all Arab countries,” he added.
