Emirati rights association hails countryand#039s winning Human Rights Council seat

DUBAI, 29th October 2015 (WAM) — The Emirates Human Rights Association has hailed the UAE’s winning of a second three-year term as member of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) as a show of the international community’s confidence in the country.
The UAE was elected for a second three-year term as member of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), starting from the beginning of 2016 and ending in late 2018.
The association expressed the hope that the UAE would fulfil the aspiration of its leaders and peoples in the field of human rights during the second term at the international body.
“These aspirations include enforcing the UAE’s national strategy on human rights and freedoms and establishing an independent Emirati human rights body,” the Emirates Human Rights Association said.
