Energy Minister opens Global Oil and Gas Training and Simulation Forum

ABU DHABI, 17th February, 2015 (WAM) — Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy, today opened the 3rd Global Oil and Gas Training and Simulation Forum, held at the Abu Dhabi Polytechnic.

Present at the opening were Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), Dr. Ahmad Alawar, Director of Abu Dhabi Polytechnic and other officials.

The three-day Forum addresses skills development requirements and effective training approaches that can apply to the full span of employees in today’s oil and gas Industry, from new workers to experienced, design, projects, operation and maintenance employees, HoDs, and mid-senior level management personnel.

Dr. Alawar said in the opening speech that the Forum presents an excellent platform for networking, benchmarking and exchanging business ideas and expertise, as well as the latest developments in the oil and gas industry.

In a statement on the sidelines of the Forum, Al Mazrouei said the UAE government was keen on equipping graduates not only with technical and applied skills, but also with the ability to innovate.

He added that the energy ministry was looking forward to creating synergies among the different technical educational and training institutions, including the Abu Dhabi Polytechnic, to ensure excellent and competitive educational outcomes.

Al Mazrouei praised the unlimited support extended to educational institutions by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
