FANR Director General visits Ministry of Health

ABU DHABI, 2nd November, 2015 (WAM)–The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) agreed today to strengthen their collaboration to improve radiation protection practices in the UAE.
FANR Director General Christer Viktorsson met with MOH Under-Secretary Dr. Mohammad Al Olama at MOH headquarters in Dubai. Among other items, the two officials agreed to a programme for FANR to conduct training for MOH staff.
Viktorsson, who became FANR’s Director General in June 2015, described FANR’s role and responsibilities as the nation’s oversight authority of radiation-based medical practices. FANR regulations aim to protect patients and healthcare workers as they use radiation to diagnose and treat medical conditions.
Other FANR officials at the meeting included Mohammed Sultan Al Zaabi, Deputy Director General of Administration Rashed Al Falahi, Acting Government Affairs Manager Aayda Al Shehhi, Manager, Regulated Material and Monira Al Kuttab, Chief Communications Aisor.
