Federal Customs delegation introduced to latest Customs systems at Dubai Airport

DUBAI: Dubai Customs has received a delegation comprising representatives from Federal Customs and Free-Zones authorities to review the Airport Terminal 1 organisational structure of Dubai Airport’s Operations Department and mechanisms of handling passengers and luggage.

The move is aimed at strengthening mutual cooperation and the exchange of practical expertise.

Jassim Mohammed Al Zaabi, Director-General of the General Authority for the Security of Ports, Borders and Free Zones, praised Dubai Customs responsiveness on the up-to-the-minute demands of the industry. He hailed its outright readiness in dealing with the staggering number of passengers travelling through the Emirate s sky ports.

Khalid Ahmed Yousef, Acting Manager of Airport Operations Department, demonstrated seizures of illegal imports conducted in the past years as well as some ingenious smuggling attempts.

The delegation included representatives from Federal Customs and Free-Zone Authorities, headed by Al Zaabi.

The visitors were also briefed on parallel operations at Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 in handling passengers and luggage and the civilised approach of Dubai Customs’ inspectors towards all incoming passengers, while maintaining a high sense of security alertness.

They toured the Command and Control Room of Dubai Customs, which is the first of its kind in the Arab region. It is connected to a CCTV network, and equipped with the latest smart remote surveillance integrated systems, as well as a highly advanced communication mechanism connecting Command and Control Room operators with Customs Inspectors mobilised all over Dubai Airport Terminals.
