Former Dominican president visits Emirates Centre for Policies

ABU DHABI, 28th October, 2015 (WAM) – Ibtisam Al Ketbi, Chairperson of Emirates Policy Centre (EPC) this afternoon received Dominican’s former President, Leonel Fernandez Reyna, who is currently visiting the UAE in his capacity as the Chairman of the Council of Arab relations with Latin America and the Caribbean (CARLAC) and Director of Fundacion Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE).
Reyna will take part in the Abu Dhabi Strategic Debate, on 1st – 2nd Nov, and will address the session on the restructuring of the global economy.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of CARLAC, Mustafa Abu Naba.
Dr. Al Ketbi briefed the guests on the EPC and its functions. She added that the centre formulates clear policies to help the process of decision-making to develop a roadmap to deal with thorny issues, crises and increasingly complex issues because of the multiplicity of actors, conflicts of interest, regional and international agendas.
Dominica’s former president commended the EPC’s unique experience, and congratulated the centre for ranking ninth on the list of emerging research centres in the world. He expressed his interest in co-operating with the Emirates Centre as its shares the vision with the two centres he chairs.
The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on organising conferences and holding workshops and training sessions, as well as issuance of scientific studies, printing and translation, consultations and exchange of expertise.
