Fujairah Ruler: UAE has made staggering progress over 43 years

Fujairah: H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, has raised the UAE flag on the tallest flagpole in the emirate of Fujairah, near Mohammed bin Zayed City, to mark the UAE’s 43rd National Day.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Hamad said, “The UAE National Day is a source of pride for the UAE and the broader Arab world. We are celebrating the huge achievements in civilisation made by the UAE over the past 43 years. The UAE’s qualitative accomplishments match its prominent stature, thanks to the sound directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.” Sheikh Hamad has instructed local authorities to transform the area around the flagpole into a public, family-oriented theme park. The flagpole park will house entertainment facilities as well as the branches of local and international restaurant chains.

Erected and installed by the Ministry of Public Works, the flagpole is 120 metres tall and can support a flag that is 30 metres long and 15 metres wide.

A number of senior local officials attended the flag-hoisting event.
