General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector participates in IDEX 2015

ABU DHABI, 18th February, 2015 (WAM) — The General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector, TRA, announced today its participation for the fourth consecutive time at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference – IDEX 2015. Taking place from 22nd to 26th of February in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC, the TRA is taking part in the world’s MENA region exclusive tri-service defence exhibition through the UAE Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT) and Spectrum Team.

“IDEX is the UAE’s premiere international event, with huge significance for all governmental entities, and especially the TRA and its subsidiaries. Over the years, the TRA had a prominent presence at IDEX, and this year will further highlight the key developments within the field of cyber security and spectrum. We are pleased to be taking aantage of this unique platform to strengthen our relationships with our regional and international counterparts in the defence and security sector,” said Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of TRA.

Following earlier successes at IDEX, TRA will showcase several suggested mechanisms for protecting the UAE’s ICT infrastructure, will proceed this year by spreading awareness on the importance of social media surveillance systems. The motive is to protect and monitoring accounts from being hijacked and eliminating fabricated alerts.

In the past years, TRA has revealed the latest regulations and policies to ensure effective use of frequencies during emergencies as well as preventing harmful interference. In the 2015 edition of IDEX, the TRA will showcase its new vehicle, which is installed with state-of-the art radiation capabilities. The Mercedes Benz car, built according to global standards, will detect radiation to further enhance security measures in the UAE.

IDEX is the only international defence exhibition and conference in the MENA region demonstrating the latest technology across land, sea and air sectors of defence.
