Ghobash launches Minister of Labour Award for corporate excellence

DUBAI: Saqr bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Labour has launched “Minister of Labour Award for corporate excellence, aimed at upgrading the level of institutional performance of the ministry s staff and encouraging the spirit of competition and cooperation between them through the application of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award standards.

Addressing a ceremony organised by the Ministry of Labour to launch the award at the Intercontinental Hotel Festival City, Dubai, Ghobash said, “Enlightened thought our wise leadership, we will continue to properly manage the labour market and achieve organisational excellence.” Mubarak Saeed Al-Dhaheri Under-Secretary of the ministry of Labour and Major General Dr. Abdul-Quddus Abdul Razak Obaidli Assistant Commander in Chief of Dubai Police for Quality and Excellence were in attendance on the occasion.

The ceremony was also attended by Humaid Rashid bin Dimas, Assistant Under-Secretary for Labour Affairs, Maher Hamad Al Obed Assistant Under-Secretary for Inspectional Affairs, Saif Al Suwaidi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Institutional and Supporting Services and Dr. Omar Al Nuaimi, Assistant Under-Secretary for policy and strategy, and directors of organisational units and a number of ministry staff.

Ghobash explained in his speech that the award, which was renamed from corporate excellence award to the “Minister of labour s Award for corporate excellence, came after a proposal by the leaders of the ministry in the process of achieving competitiveness in various forms targeted to further develop our institutional performance.

“The new name for the award carries many messages from them and especially my direct concern for the confirmatory of our staff s commitment to excellence in its finest image and my interest and my commitment with the leaders of the ministry to continue to provide support to creativity, teamwork and organizational units,” he said.

He pointed out the ministry’s commitment in providing a suitable work environment which is considered an incubator for creativity, where is the excellence award is considered one of the motivational components that the ministry looks into improving.

“The award s main goal is to spread a competition like spirit between the staff to improve their current roles and their functions in accordance with the required standards and to welcome their creative ideas that contribute to achieving the ministry s vision, mission and objectives towards strengthening the institutional capacity and to deliver government services with high quality and ensure that all administrative services are running in accordance with the standards of quality, efficiency and transparency.”

On the occasion, Ghobash honored Major General Dr. Abdul Razak Abdul-Quddus Alobaidly Assistant Commander in Chief of Dubai Police for quality and excellence for his pioneering role in the process of organisational excellence in various fields.

Dr. Quddus during the ceremony presented basic strategies of achieving excellence, through the adoption of leadership policies, transforming the concept of excellence into a corporate culture, meeting the needs of customers, building a culture of excellence among human resources and providing an environment for creativity.

The Minister of Labour s Award includes two major categories, namely: administrative categories including: excellent management, outstanding office work, team work. The second category includes functional categories: Excellence in the field of supervisory, excellence in the field of service, excellence in the administrative area, excellence in field operations, excellence in the specialized performances, excellence in the field of technical support and excellence for new employees.
