Guest scholars visit Awqaf in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI: A group of Islamic scholars visiting U.A.E. as guests of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan, on Monday visited the head office of General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (Awqaf).

During the visit, the scholars had a firsthand experience on the authority’s services including Quran memorisation centres and a 24/7 fatwa information centre where some 45 Awqaf scholars using a hotline and the latest computers give immediate fatwas (a fatwa is an Islamic ruling) on different issues as they answer around 7000 queries from the public.

Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of Awqaf, welcomed the visiting scholars and accompanied them during their tour. He hailed the U.E.A. leadership’s support to Awqaf’s activities.

On their part, The guest scholars expressed their admiration of the advanced services of Awqaf in the service of religion and the society.

They prayed to Allah the Almighty to bless President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of U.A.E. Armed Forces, with good health, and the people of U.A.E. with further security and safety.
