Hamdan bin Zayed orders allocation of AED60 million to aid Syrian refugees

ABU DHABI: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region (Al Gharbiyah) and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, has directed the allocation of AED60 million in favour of Syrian refugees, with AED10 million to be distributed every month for six months. AED5 million of the total AED60 million will be allocated to refugees in Jordan and AED2.5 million to refugees in both Lebanon and Iraq’s Kurdistan.

A delegation from the Emirates Red Crescent will oversee the provision of in-kind assistance to the refugees, especially with regard to shelters materials, heaters and winter clothes, blankets and medicines.

Sheikh Hamdan said that these relief activities for the benefit of Syrian refugees comes within the framework of the great attention given by the UAE’s leadership, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the support of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
