Hanif Al Qassim participates in Middle East Studies Association meeting

DUBAI, 10th December, 2015 (WAM) – Dr. Hanif Hassan Al Qassim, Chairman of the Geneva Centre’s Board of Directors of the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Aancement and Global Dialogue, has taken part in the 49th Annual Meeting of the Middle East Studies Association (MESA).
The four-day long conference, organised by MESA, has discussed a number of issues regarding the Middle East and their repercussions worldwide.
Dr. Hanif said that the conference comes amid the crucial circumstances being witnessed by the Middle East in the light of international political conflicts and terrorist challenges as well as incidents of extremism being faced by the peoples of the region.
He added that the conference also tackled issues pertaining to a number of main incidents including the current events in Yemen in light of the coup against legitimacy and destruction of Yemeni institutions by the coup militias and political Islamic groups.
Dr. Hanif also pointed out that the conference condemned all acts of violence and extremism, which exceeded the borders of the region to many countries in various regions of the world, including the recent incidents in France, which proved that terrorism does not have a homeland or borders, but it is a systematic global epidemic which needs concerted international action to eliminate it.
“We need to adopt initiatives with all our strength and determination to eradicate terrorist organisations,” he added.
