ABU DHABI: The President of Kyrgyzstan, Almazbek Atambayev, made an official visit to the United Arab Emirates from 4th to 7th December, 2014.
He met with Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and with His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them to serve interests of the two peoples. They also exchanged views on current issues, as well as regional and international developments.
They recognized the importance of developing economic cooperation and stressed the need for expanding cooperation in the different fields such as oil and gas, minerals, chemical industries, renewable energy and tourism.
The talks demonstrated that the two countries share identical views on political fields and joint interests.
It was announced that Kyrgyzstan will open an embassy in Abu Dhabi. It was also agreed to establish a joint commission to open up opportunities for economic and commercial cooperation. The two sides emphasized the necessity of boosting direct contacts among business communities in the two countries.
The UAE and Kyrgyzstan expressed concern over the growing terrorism phenomenon and stressed the need to fight terrorism and to confront terrorist groups, including Dae’sh.
The two sides signed several agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on avoidance of double taxation on income, promotion of investments, security cooperation, air transport, extradition of criminals, legal assistance in civil and commercial matters and economic cooperation.
The UAE and Kyrgyzstan expressed their commitment to creating an environment of mutual trust and to promoting regional and global stability, referring to the need to resolve regional and international disputes through peaceful and diplomatic means.
The President of Kyrgyzstan expressed gratitude to the leadership and people of the UAE and thanked Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm hospitality.
