Manama: The UAE’s Khalifa bin Zayed Foundation has funded a mass wedding for 222 couples in the Kingdom of Bahrain for the fourth consecutive year.
Attending the ceremony were Speaker of Bahrain’s Council of Representatives Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani, U.A.E. Charge d’ Affairs in Bahrain Ahmed Al Mazrouie, Director General of Khalifa Foundation Mohammed Haji Khoury, along with a number of senior Bahraini officials.
Addressing the audience, Al Dhahrani said the Khalifa Foundation’s generosity underlined the depth of fraternal ties between the UAE and Bahrain and promoted community partnership throughout the broader GCC.
He added that more than 3000 young men and women had become married thanks to the generous support by charities and individual donors in Bahrain and the GCC countries.
He noted that this year’s mass wedding had carried a special significance as it coincided with the UAE’s celebrations of its 43rd national day and he extended his warm congratulations to the UAE under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He also thanked H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Foundation for his continuing support for the mass wedding in Bahrain.
Also, Khoury said his foundation had funded the mass wedding in Bahrain for the fourth year in a row.
He noted that since 2011, the foundation had assisted 888 couples to become married.
