Khalifa Fund participates in Gulf Food Exhibition

DUBAI, 8th February, 2015 (WAM) — The Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development is participating in the Gulf Food Exhibition, Gulfood, currently being held in Dubai Trade Centre. The fund provides an umbrella for a number of projects in the food industry that are owned and managed by Emirati entrepreneurs.

Khalifa fund’s pavilion in SIAL Middle East contains 9 projects for Emiratis who have benefited from the financial and non-financial services provided by the fund. The exhibits vary amongst food industries, animals products, sweets and fresh juices, as well as organic products from farms funded by the Khalifa Fund as part of its Zaarie, or agriculture, programme, which was launched a year ago.

Mouza Obaid Al Nasseri, Acting Chief Operating Officer in the Khalifa Fund, said, “Khalifa Fund’s participation in Gulfood comes as part of the fund’s efforts to support food enterprises, to promote their products and access the local and global market.” She added, “Organising such an important exhibition like Gulfood in Dubai is a real opportunity for entrepreneurs who own food projects to promote their products and to build cooperation with local and global companies as well as to explore to others’ experiences in order to improve their own. Since the establishment of the Khalifa Fund in 2007, 85 projects in the food industry sector received support to a total amount of AED85 million.” Ahmed Khalfan Al Romaithi, Manager of the Zaarie Programme in Khalifa Fund, said, “The purpose of participation in Gulfood is to expose farmers who benefited from the Zaarie Programme to marketing opportunities in local and regional markets. The exhibition is a great opportunity for Emirati farmers to explore to the technology used in packing and storage of farms’ products. It will help them to better understand the best practices in marketing their products over the whole year.”
