Kuwait bans bird imports from UK

Kuwait’s Public Authority for Agriculture and Fish Resources, PAAFR, announced on Wednesday a ban on imports of all birds, eggs and chicks from the United Kingdom.

Kuwait News Agency, KUNA, quoted the Authority’s Chairperson and Director-General, Nabila Al-Khalil, as saying that the ban was due to a report from the World Organisation for Animal Health indicating an outbreak of bird flu (H5N2) in the United Kingdom.

The PAAFR asserted that all imports of birds from the UK should be subject to regulations issued by the Animal Health Department at the Authority.
