Maraya Art Centre re-launches Community Space for Innovation Week

SHARJAH, 21st November, 2015 (WAM) — Maraya Art Centre, Sharjah’s contemporary visual arts hub, will take part in the upcoming Innovation Week by re-launching its renovated Community Space alongside a new exhibition. Starting on November 22nd.
The seven-day event will host an assortment of artworks and activities that focus on making a positive social, environmental and economic impact through technology, talent and ingenuity.
Speaking about the upcoming event, Maraya Art Centre Director Giuseppe Moscatello commented, “The Maraya team is delighted to invite everyone to experience the Innovation Week Programme firsthand. We have assembled a variety of design works, and will offer special research project presentations, a panel talk about new creative production technologies, and of course, the anticipated favourite: the screening of a film by students from the American University of Sharjah. With this re-launch, we hope to create an even better social hotspot for our city’s arts and culture enthusiasts.”
The 2015 Maraya Innovation Week’s official opening will kick off at 4pm on Sunday, 22 November. First day visitors can look forward to the UAE Innovation Week Exhibition, showcasing a choice selection of innovative design commissions until 10pm, provided by Maraya Art Centre and 1971- Design Space, ranging from arts and culture to graphic design, architecture and environmental pieces.
Parents can take their young ones to the Color Bug Workshop from 4:30-6:30pm, while they make their way to the hour-long Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) Innovation Presentation from 5pm, followed by a Performative Design Presentation by George Katodrytis (Associate Professor of Architecture at the American University of Sharjah).
At 6:30pm, Architect Cristiano Luchetti will present SPACELESS]CITY: four architectural solutions for Sharjah, followed by the Innovation Panel Talk with panelists AmmarKalo (CAAD Labs Director and Assistant Professor at AUS), George Katodrytis and Denis Kruger (CTO of Pixelbug).
Day 1’s activities will conclude with the screening of an experimental film made by students of the American University of Sharjah at 8:15pm, ending with QA. Children can enjoy the Fun Robotics Workshop from 4:30pm the next day. Other entertaining activities will be announced in the near future.
