Ministry of Health organises Arab Conference for Child Health

DUBAI: The U.A.E. Ministry of Health is working closely with the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) to combat obesity among children through specialised campaigns that would increase awareness of the need for a healthy lifestyle in government schools.

Speaking at the opening of the Arab Conference for Child Health, Dr. Mostafa Al Hashemi, Deputy Director of Dubai Medical District and Director of Therapeutic Tourism in the Ministry of Health said that the ministry is very keen on improving the health services projects including the development of health facilities, hospitals and medical centres to fulfil the increasing demand of qualified doctors, administration staff and drugs.

“The ministry believes that such important events enable the participants to exchange ideas, experiences and ideas to improve the health our children”, he added.

The three-day Arab Conference for Child Health is organised by the Ministry of Health in Dubai and is attended by a number of regional and international doctors who are specialised in paediatrics and neonatal surgeries.

The conference also highlights issues that are related to nutrition, vaccines, infectious diseases, internal medicine diseases, neurology, transplants and autism disorders.

The organising company of the conference also honoured the winners of the “medical research in the paediatric field” competition. Dr. Khalid Al Atawi, Neonatal Specialist from Latifa Hospital, won the first prize, Dr. Fadia Al Beheeran, Assistant Paediatric Professor at the King Abdul Aziz Medical City won the second prize and third prize was given to Dr. Neesha Patel, Fellow in Genetic Sciences Department at King Faisal Specialised Hospital.

The Arab Conference for Child Health is supported and sponsored by a number of medical authorities including the Executive Office of GCC Health Ministers Council, Dubai Healthcare City, Saudi Paediatric Medicine Association, Petersburg Paediatric and Comer Paediatric Hospital in the USA, the American Hospital in Dubai and Zahra Hospital.
