Mohamed bin Zayed receives phone call from Japanese Prime Minister

ABU DHABI, 12th February, 2015 (WAM) — His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, today received a phone call from Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan.

During the call, both parties reviewed the historical relations of friendship and cooperation between the UAE and Japan in various fields and the importance of strengthening bilateral relations, especially in the areas of partnerships in economic relations, economic, education and energy and ways of developing them to serve the interests of both countries and peoples.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi expressed his sincere condolences and sympathies to the Japanese Government and its people for the death of the two Japanese hostages who were victims of the terrorist organisation, and offered his sincere sympathy to the families of the victims , saying that he condemned these cowardly terrorist acts that are contrary to all religions and faiths, moral values and international conventions.

He praised the Japanese stance in fighting violent extremism and the efforts to combat this phenomenon in all its forms and manifestations, stressing the importance of the international community showing unity and solidarity to face and eradicate it, so as not to impact on regional and international security and stability.

The Japanese Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the UAE’s support in the latest hardship facing Japan, expressing his thanks to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed for his noble feelings towards the people of Japan and the families of the victims.

During the phone call, both sides discussed all the events and developments on the regional and international arenas and exchange views on a number of issues of common concern
