Mohamed bin Zayed visits Ministry of Defence

ABU DHABI: His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has said the UAE led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, believes deeply in addressing the contemporary challenges and changes being experienced by the region.

He added that such threats and challenges require specialised military and security institutions capable of scientifically assessing the nature of developments to pre-empt them.

Sheikh Mohamed made these remarks today, while visiting the Ministry of Defence at the Maqta camp, Abu Dhabi.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi said the ministry and other military and security institutions had enjoyed the support of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, given their important role in protecting and safeguarding the country. Sheikh Mohamed commended the efforts of the UAE President and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to further boost the capacity of these institutions as per the world class standards.

He called for exerting utmost efforts to train and prepare Emirati cadres to tackle efficiently the challenges, changes and the latest regional and international developments, adding that the Emirati cadres represent the focal point for achieving comprehensive sustainable development.

Sheikh Mohamed was received upon his arrival by Mohammed Ahmed Al Bawardi Al Falasi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Staff Lt. General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, senior commanders and officers.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi was briefed on the progress of work at the Ministry. He also reviewed the future plans of the Ministry, which are aimed at upgrading performance capacity and efficiency to achieve the national objectives that strengthen the UAE’s regional and international status.
