Mohammed bin Rashid directs holding of Arab social networking pioneers forum in Dubai next March

DUBAI, 14th February, 2015 (WAM) — Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has issued instructions on organising the Arab social networking pioneers’ forum in Dubai from March 17-18.

The event will be the first of its kind in the region to bring together the influential pioneers in social networking media channels to explore the latest trends. It is also a platform to support the positive use of social networking media channels, and honour the best practices in these channels.

Sheikh Mohammed said, “The role of social networking media is growing as the means of social communication in various aspects of our lives. They have become a forum for a physician to demonstrate his experience and knowledge, a gallery for an artist to display his paintings and innovations. The social media channels are also classes for teachers to disseminate knowledge and sciences to students. They are also commercial markets for entrepreneurs to present their projects and products.” He added, “The Arab youth have shown distinct talents on social media channels, and proved that they are able to keep up with the changes and developments that these channels present. This makes it necessary to find a platform to enhance communication among themselves to highlight their achievements and innovations, and provide tools and means to support and enhance these talents and skills.” The forum will honour those who have made a difference and positive changes in their communities through social media channels.
