Mohammed bin Rashid honours Dar Al Ber Society

DUBAI, 5th February, 2015 (WAM) — Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has honoured the Dar Al Ber Society for ranking 5th among the local institutions who have given most donations abroad in 2013.

The honouring of most generous local government and non-government institutions was run by the Ministry of International Cooperation and Development (MICD) on the eve of the launch of the UAE report on foreign donations in 2013.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed granted an appreciation certificate to Khalfan Khalifa Al Mazrouie, Chairman of Dar Al Ber Society at the honouring ceremony, held under his patronage and was attended by Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development, along with a number of Sheikhs, dignitaries, and senior officials.

Al Mazrouie paid tributes to the UAE prudent leadership, represented by the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the Supreme Council Members, Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates for honouring the Dar Al Ber Society.

“Such well-deserved honouring is really for the UAE philanthropists who spare no effort to ease the suffering of the poor and low-income families. It is also an appreciation for all staffers and volunteers of Dar Al Ber Society,” he said.

The map of Dar Al Ber donations shows that the development aid hit 34.74 percent while the humanitarian assistance amounted to 1.57 percent, and 63.68 percent for charitable contributions, he elaborated and said, “Dar Al Ber spares no effort to assist all those in need for help, or hit by catastrophes, crises, or tough conditions.” He prayed, “May Almighty Allah keep the UAE safe, secure, peaceful, prosperous, and helpful to all countries under the UAE prudent leadership.” Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, Executive Director of the Dar Al Ber Society, said the honouring, an appreciation to the UAE philanthropists, is in line with the over 35-year-old charity association strategy, vision, and goals. “The Society is a link of charitable and humanitarian work instructed by the UAE prudent leadership. The honouring is a turning point in the history of giving in the country which scored highest worldwide by donating AED 21.36 billion across the globe in 2013.” The UAE has ranked first worldwide in terms of the most development aids giving countries across the globe in 2013, he added. “This may not have been possible without the outstanding vision of the UAE leaders who have put man on top of their interests, let alone the UAE philanthropists’ generous hearts and souls.” The MICD report shows that the Dar Al Ber Society has instantly responded to numerous emergency cases in 2013, particularly the Syrian refugees, he stated. “This is in implementation of the statement of the late Sheikh Zayed, the founder of the UAE, who said: ‘We believe that the fortune granted to us by Almighty Allah should be shared with our friends and brothers.” Bin Zayed said that Dar Al Ber has gained that exceptional position as a result of fruitful cooperation and coordination with all the societies of the country as instructed by the UAE leaders.
