Mohammed bin Rashid receives President of Kyrgyzstan

DUBAI: Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, today received the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Almazbek Atambayev, along with his accompanying delegation.

Sheikh Mohammed held talks with President Atambayev on bilateral relations and reviewed a number of regional issues of common interest.

Also in attendance were H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

During their meeting, the Vice President welcomed the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and expressed his hope that the visit will lead to positive and useful results for the two friendly countries and their peoples at various levels.

Also, Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of exchanges of visits between the two countries’ leaders and officials in both countries, as they seek to explore the possibilities for each country and work to employ them to build relations of friendship and cooperation, including in the economic, tourism, investment and cultural fields to benefit their peoples.

The President of Kyrgyzstan hailed the significant development witnessed by the UAE, wishing that his first visit to the country would further improve friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He also praised the warm Arab generous hospitality accorded to him and his delegation by the leadership and officials in the UAE.

He further stressed that his country is seeking to benefit from the UAE’s successful experience, which has surprised the world, and described Dubai as a city that was born from the desert and has become the most prestigious and beautiful city among ancient cities in the world, thanks to the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and his relentless efforts that the city of Dubai become a hub of tolerance and happiness, under the UAE, which occupies a prominent place on the map of developed countries, especially in the sectors of infrastructure and knowledge-based economy.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed witnessed the signing of eight agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) between the UAE and Kyrgyzstan, including an agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in criminal matters signed by Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Erlan Abdyldaev, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, an agreement on Legal Assistance in civil and commercial matters and an agreement on avoidance of double taxation on income and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion, signed by Obaid bin Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs and the Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan. Also, an agreement on the protection and promotion of investment and air transport services was signed by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, along with an economic cooperation agreement and, finally, a MoU for cooperation in the security field signed by Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and the Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting and the signing ceremony was attended by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy, Head of the mission of honor accompanying the guest, Mohammed Ibrahim AI Shaibani, Director-General of His Highness the Ruler’s Court, Government of Dubai, and Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director- General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai.
