Nahyan hails volunteer team of Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge

ABU DHABI, 4th February, 2015 (WAM) — Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, and Chairman of the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, has praised the key team of volunteers of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge for being named by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) as the best of the season worldwide in 2014. He also praised the organisers of the event for their efforts.

Sheikh Nahyan made the remarks as he received the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge SafetySweep Team members and Mohammad bin Sulayem, President of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE, at his palace.

During the meeting, Sheikh Nahyan honoured the team members for their achievement.

He noted that he visited the venue of the event twice last year and that the organisation of the event was “magnificent” in terms of safety and rescue operations, the success of which was possible thanks to the vital role played by each volunteer.

For his part, Bin Sulayem hailed the support extended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak to sports.
