OIC commends Saudi King’s initiative for Egypt-Qatar reconciliation

JEDDAH: Secretary-General of Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani, on Monday hailed the initiative of the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, for reconciliation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Qatar. Madani also praised the keen interest of King Abdullah in promoting Arab and Islamic solidarity and clearing the air between all Arab and Islamic countries.

In an OIC statement, Madani welcomed “the sincerity and positive response demonstrated by the leaders of the two countries towards the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and their readiness to open a new chapter in their relations that turns the page on the past and sets the stage for a promising era of cooperation and solidarity between Egypt and Qatar for the benefit of their peoples and the nations of the Arab and Islamic Ummah (nation)”
