OIC Secretary-General and Gambian President hold talks

JEDDAH: The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani, has held a meeting with Yahaya A.J.J. Jammeh, the President of the Republic of the Gambia, who was on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The two sides had useful and extensive exchanges of views on various issues related to the OIC and the challenges facing the Muslim Ummah. They also discussed ways and means to strengthen intra-OIC cooperation and consolidate solidarity among member states, according to official sources at the OIC.

The Gambian President who expressed his confidence on the leadership of the Secretary General shared his vision on the future of the OIC and highlighted on some important priorities to be pursued by the Organisation.

The Secretary-General thanked the President for his vision and expressed the OIC’s readiness to continue the cooperation with the Gambia to promote joint Islamic action.
