KHARTOUM: Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani and Omar Hassan Al-Bashir, President of the Republic of the Sudan, have discussed ways to strengthen joint Islamic action and address the major challenges facing the Muslim world.
This came during their meeting in Khartoum, where President Omar Al-Bashir underscored the OIC’s importance in the regional and international arenas, commending the efforts of the Secretary-General in promoting Islamic solidarity for the service of the peoples of the Ummah, which is going through a very sensitive stage in the light of present conflicts, most of which are raging in the Muslim world.
The OIC Secretary-General highlighted the importance for all member states to exert consolidated efforts in order to strengthen joint Islamic action and address the major challenges facing the Muslim world in all political, economic, social and cultural fields.
Madani also held a session of official talks with the Sudanese Foreign Minister, Ali Ahmed Karti, at the headquarters of the Ministry. The two parties reviewed areas of bilateral cooperation between the OIC and Sudan, and exchanged views on the situation in the Muslim world and the arrangements of the next session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, due to be held in Kuwait next May.
