OIC Secretary-General condemns bomb blasts in Kano central mosque, Nigeria

JEDDAH: The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani, has condemned the killing of hundreds of worshipers at Friday prayers in the central mosque in northern Nigeria’s largest city of Kano.

While reinstating the support of the OIC to the government of Nigeria in its effort to combat terrorism, the Secretary General in a statement called on the Nigerian government to step up its effort in halting the incessant killing of innocent citizens and destruction of properties in the country.

The Secretary-General extended his condolences to the families of the victims of the violence and to the people and the Government of Nigeria. He reiterated the principled position of the OIC that vigorously denounces all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all their forms and manifestations while it categorically rejects any justifications for terrorism.
