Pakistan’s Ambassador hails UAE’s initiative towards his country

ABU DHABI, 7th February, 2015 (WAM) — Asif Ali Khan Durrani, the Ambassador of Pakistan to the United Arab Emirates said that the UAE-led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is deemed one of the biggest supporters of the humanitarian conditions in Pakistan.

Durrani expressed his appreciation to the UAE’s humanitarian and developmental initiatives in various fields in Pakistan which are given much interest from His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, pointing out the launch of the second phase of eradication of Polio Disease Campaign through immunisation of millions of Pakistani children.

He also lauded the Emirati support to Pakistani students through provision of scholarships in a number of vital specialties, bringing to attention the Pakistani people’s appreciation to the UAE’s noble initiatives, saying “The Pakistani people will always be grateful to the UAE’s leadership and people.” During the ambassador’s meeting with Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) and Dr. Mohammed Atiq Al Falahi, ERC’s Secretary General, Durrani affirmed that President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa is following the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan regarding provision of aid to the needy persons.

He added that the UAE has contributed largely and presented a unique concept in the field of humanitarian work as well as an overall developmental approach in its vital projects as in health, education, housing and other basic services. He also indicated that Pakistan has gained a big share of the of projects that translate the UAE’s humanitarian support as well as its commitment to support the people of Pakistan.

The Pakistani Ambassador reiterated his thanks to ERC’s efforts in Pakistan which is given much interest from H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent.

He also familiaried himself on ERC’s future projects and programmes in Pakistan.

On his part, Al Mazrouei welcomed the ambassador’s visit, stressing its would support the authority’s charitable efforts.
