Phase 2 of Sheikh Fatima’s Initiative provides more winter aid for Syrian refugees in Jordan

AMMAN, 18th February 2015 (WAM) — The second phase of an initiative of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, was launched Wednesday to provide more winter aid for Syrian refugee families in Jordan.

Some 815 families received winter aid in Ramtha in northern Jordan as part of phase two of the initiative, which is being organised by the UAE Embassy in Amman.

The initiative is aimed at helping 10,000 to 12,000 Syrian refugees in Ramtha, Irbid and Mafraq.

The UAE relief team at the UAE-Jordanian camp in Mrajeeb al-Fohoud in Azraq is also helping the refugee families in coordination with Jordanian charities.

The first phase of the initiative was launched in December 2014 and was concluded in January.

Sheikha Fatima’s initiative is supported by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and President of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC).
