Saud bin Saqr attends closing ceremony of RAK Holy Quran Award

RAS AL-KHAIMAH, 28th February, 2015 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah, praised the country’s efforts in serving the Holy Quran through diversified programmes across the nation.

He stressed that the UAE is an Arab and Islamic country that preserves its Islamic identity and promotes tolerant teachings of Islam among its citizens.

Sheikh Saud pointed out the role played by the Ras Al Khaimah Holy Quran Award in the field of memorising the Holy Quran and supporting Emiratis to memorise it, hailing the outstanding performance of the participants in this year’s edition.

“Holy Quran is the main source of Islam and the Arabic language as well. I urge Emiratis in Ras al-Khaimah in particular and the UAE in general to adhere to the tolerant values of Holy Quran,” he said at the closing ceremony of the 15th edition of the RAK Holy Quran Award.

The Ruler honoured 93 winners of all categories in the competition as well as the participants in the parallel events of the Award, such as scholars, university professors, lecturers, crew members, sponsors and the supportive departments during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development Centre in Rasl al-Khaimah.

A number of senior officials, heads of departments, representatives of sponsors and a crowd of people attended the event.
